Questions for you:
- Are you a Millennial who’s fed up with working for people who are twice your age and just don’t “get it”?
- Or are you a Baby Boomer – or Gen X’er – who’s fed up with Millennial “attitudes”?
If you answered yes to either one – have I got a book for you!
I’ve seen these feelings – close up and personal – for over 10 years now, working in the functional area of marketing in large organizations as well as with smaller businesses and teams. This tension – or animosity, in some cases – has been present in almost every marketing department or ad agency that I’ve come across.
Even further, this strife between the different generations isn’t unique to the area of marketing anymore; it’s being felt in organizations of all sizes, in numerous functions and departments, and it’s not unique to the U.S. – it’s international. For example, I’ve seen and heard of examples of “youth bashing” in the U.K. and spoken with a Gen Z Influencer who did a video devoted to this topic. She has 104K subscribers to her channel, as of this writing.
Why is this such a big issue now? And how is that impacting teamwork, productivity, and – most importantly – how does it make people feel about where they work and how they work.
It was these questions and issues that led me to write my new book: OK, Boomer! Revelations of a Baby Boomer Working With Millennials. And – spoiler alert – it doesn’t have to be this way.
